In Slovenia, two million people rely on ELES, the operator of the local electricity transmission network, every day. With over 90 years of experience, ELES is an undisputed expert in the power supply industry. Nevertheless, an ever-increasing demand for electricity, the rapid digitalization of the national infrastructure, and the growing risk of cyber-attacks pose major challenges for ELES. Reduced to the essentials - maximized in terms of flexibility, ergonomics and efficiency
When working with ELES, our goal was to create a data and IT architecture that would provide operators with the easiest and fastest possible access to all relevant sources. The data needed to be accessible from any workplace location and in real-time. We deployed the WEYTEC distributionPLATFORM (WDP) - a KVM-over-IP solution that enables the shared and simultaneous use of all sources, systems and content at each workplace.
The control room's working environment was modernized and simplified, providing maximum comfort and state-of-the-art ergonomics for the operators. To this end, all the control room computers were relocated to a separate server room, significantly reducing noise and heat emissions in the control room. Thanks to our KVM solution WDP, operators still have latency-free access to their computers. We also installed our flexible and modular visualization solutions throughout the control center, providing the perfect overview of all operational systems 24/7/365. Thanks to our multifunctional smartTOUCH keyboard, the single user interface at every desk, operators no longer need multiple control devices. They benefit from intuitive usability and a tidy and ergonomic workplace now and in the future.
